I flew Asiana Airlines directly from LAX to Incheon International Airport, a trip of about 13 hours. My seat was next to the window in a row of three, and the middle seat never filled. I felt extremely lucky to have chosen my row and was excited about the flight!
Unfortunately, the excitement only lasted about an hour. After eating the "special" vegetarian meal, I found myself sick in the bathrooms for nearly the entire flight. It was really embarrassing. My typical diet is vegan, so I figured I must have become sick from dairy in the meal (creamy mushroom risotto). I'm worried about how well I will be able to handle Korean food. During my last visit, I also felt sick for a few days as I struggled to adjust to a diet unlike my normal one.
After the flight, I went directly to the dorms and arrived just before 7AM, earlier than the check-in at 8. I think more people will arrive tomorrow. Today, the halls remain dark and quiet...
This is the room I'm staying in and the bathroom. There is a shower door there, but the water leaks into the toilet area and can drain under the sink:
Here's the view from my side of the room. I see interesting buildings:
Unfortunately the view in general is blocked by a big X (leftover tape):
I like the room, especially the big desk and rolling chair. There is a lot of room for school supplies and junk food. There are even shelves under the desk! :)
I took a picture of the outlets and the Travel Smart all-in-one adapter made for various countries. The outlets sink in beyond what the adapter can reach comfortably, so I have to use something like the yellow case to hold it in place. I also didn't realize how many outlets I use until I only have one place that works! (Note to get another adapter later...)
I don't think I will be able to explore today. Still feeling unwell... I hope tomorrow I can go find a store to pick up things I forgot about, like toilet paper and laundry detergent! Since I don't know where any stores are, I panicked that I couldn't find water at first, due to the controversy over drinking tap water in Seoul. But then I walked down the hall and realized there's a hot and cold water dispenser already here!
"Dip Dip ..... Oooohhhh interesting."
ReplyDeleteSorry you got sick Kris! That's terrible! Hope you're doing better now and have found some TP & laundry soap. Looking forward to hearing more!
I am sorry you got sick too. How awful! Hopefully you get used to the food quickly! Thanks for starting this blog. You know I will be checking to see if you posted several times a day for the next 6 weeks!!! I can't wait to hear if you made it out of the room and what you did. Looks like lots of activity going on right outside your dorm room.
